What is SCAUnlocked?
SCAUnlocked is a medical education platform specifically designed to help General Practitioner (GP) trainees prepare for the Simulated Consultation Assessment (SCA) exam. We provide realistic case simulations with AI-powered virtual patients, real-time feedback, and peer-to-peer practice sessions to help you develop crucial clinical communication skills.
Who can benefit from using SCAUnlocked?
SCAUnlocked is primarily designed for GP trainees preparing for the SCA exam. However, it's also valuable for medical students, junior doctors, and any healthcare professional looking to improve their clinical communication skills.
How do I get started?
Eligible free accounts get one free five-minute standard Avatar taster. Create a free account, verify your email, sign in, choose any available case, and select standard Avatar. The first eligible free session uses no credits, is not a full case, and ends automatically after five minutes. Buying credits before using it retires the taster; paid credits start at \u00a310 (25 credits).
What features are included with SCAUnlocked?
Our platform offers comprehensive SCA preparation tools including realistic mock consultations with AI virtual patients, text-based and video avatar interaction modes, Colleague Mode for peer-to-peer practice sessions, real-time performance feedback, detailed post-consultation analysis, progress tracking, and a growing library of medical cases across various specialties.
How does the AI feedback work?
Our AI feedback uses OpenAI's state-of-the-art GPT-5.6 Luna and frontier GPT-5.6 Sol models. Higher reasoning supports complex educational work, producing more considered analysis of communication, clinical reasoning, time management, empathy, and next steps. Practice inputs and AI outputs sent through the OpenAI API are not used to train OpenAI's models.
Is my practice data used to train the AI models?

How does the credit system work?
SCAUnlocked uses a simple pay-as-you-go credit system. You purchase credits with GBP at a rate of \u00a31 = 2.5 credits, then spend them on individual cases. There are no monthly subscriptions or recurring charges.
Is SCAUnlocked approved by the RCGP?
While SCAUnlocked is designed specifically for SCA exam preparation and follows RCGP consultation models, we are an independent educational platform not formally affiliated with or endorsed by the RCGP.
